Shazam has now officially surpassed 100 billion song recognitions since its launch.
This equates to 12 songs recognized for every person on Earth.
A person would have to use Shazam to identify a song every second for 3,168 years to reach 100 billion.
That's over 2,200 times the number of recognitions for Shazam's top song, "Dance Monkey," with over 45 million tags.
“Beautiful Things” by Shazam Predictions 2023 alumnus Benson Boone was the first song released this year to reach 10 million recognitions, and the fastest, doing so in 178 days. At this rate, it would take more than 4,800 years to reach 100 billion.
“This monumental milestone reflects not only how much people enjoy using Shazam, but also their appetite for new music,” said Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats.
